Women are certainly the minority of students on our campus. We have only been admitted since the Institute opened its doors to our first female students, Elizabeth Herndon and Diane Michel, in The first Panhellenic sorority was founded on our campus two years later. During the seventies, there were far more female students, especially in engineering programs, than there had been just two decades previously.
Today, fifty years later, we have active members and thousands of alumni seeking the heights across the globe. Since our founding, both our chapter and our school have made enormous strides to bridge the gender gap across campus.
Our sisterhood has grown, and so has the community of which we are all a part. We are so excited to see these numbers grow each and every day, year, and decade. Our chapter's house, located at Brittain Drive NW, has three floors that are always filled with activity.

Alpha Chi Omega promotes educational and prevention efforts to eliminate domestic violence by supporting programs designed to understand the problem, assist and protect the victims, and work for the well-being of all victims of domestic violence. Chi Chapter hosts our biggest philanthropy event Diamond Days each spring.
This is a large softball tournament that allows other groups on campus to compete and raise money for CARDV. Each team is coached by two members in the sorority. During the week there are also other smaller events including tabling to raise as much money for CARDV as possible.
This ends in a speech from a CARDV representative about the importance of domestic violence awareness and assisting victims. During winter term, we host Healthy Relationships Week, a tabling event at our house where we collect donations and teach others in our community about abuse and domestic violence in hopes of spreading more awareness about this topic.
